Oil Filler Caps
« on: January 30, 2009, 10:28:16 PM »
Anybody know why there are two different types of oil filler caps ?  Their Unipart numbers are GFE6002 and GFE6003.  They differ in depth, and one is "vented", the other not.  Why would there be two types, and how would one know which is the right one for a particular engine/rocker cover ?

Sus,

If your rocker cover has no breating tube or outlet then you need a Vented cap. If you have an outlet then you need a non vented cap.

The vent provides a restricted airflow in much the same way as the volve in the outlet or the metal air cleaners canisters.
